This work consists of rubber bands cut out during the process of creating Traces of Absence, sorted into three colors and placed between two transparent acrylic sheets. The rubber bands are not fixed inside; with slight vibrations or the pull of gravity, their positions subtly shift in all directions, holding a continuous, delicate sense of movement. I consider this work to be a kind of drawing.
Rubber bands found on the street are, in most contexts, regarded simply as trash. Yet I find a distinct charm in their light, fluent lines, their unique visual forms, and their drifting, almost free-floating presence. Here, I allow those often-overlooked shapes to reemerge—retaining their inherent lightness and freedom, just as they are.
この作品は、「Traces of Absence」の制作過程で切り取られた輪ゴムを、3色に分類し、二枚の透明アクリル板に挟みました。輪ゴムは内部で固定されておらず、わずかな揺れや重力によって位置が上下左右へと可変し、常にかすかな動きを孕んでいます。この作品は自分にとって、ひとつのドローイングであると考えています。
路上で拾われた輪ゴムは、本来であればゴミとして扱われる存在です。しかし、輪ゴムの持つ軽やかな線、独自の図像、自由に漂うような佇まいに確かな魅力を感じます。ここでは、その「見過ごされがちな形」が持つ軽やかさや自由さを、そのままの姿で再び立ち上がらせています。
