Potted plants sitting along a familiar street—do they decorate the home, or do they decorate the path? Placed on the borderline between the public “street” and the private “home,” these plants do not just frame the house; they shape the very landscape of the town. As we pass by them in our daily lives, we encounter a presentation curated by the homeowner. Using photographs of plants collected through the project “Plants in front of the door,” this work aggregates commonplace daily scenes containing these trivial plants. Within the frame, I practice the possibility that a trivial everyday scene can generate an extraordinary landscape.
いつも通っている道に置かれている植木たち。植木たちは家を飾るものなのか、それとも道を飾るものなのだろうか。パブリックな「道」とプライベートな「家」の境界線に置かれる植木たちは、その家だけでなく、その町の風景をも作り出す存在になっている。そして、その前を日常の中で通り過ぎる時に、我々は家主による植木のプレゼンテーションを目にすることになる。
この作品では、プロジェクト「Plants in front of the door」で収集した植木たちの写真を用い、たわいもない植木のある日常風景を集合させた。些細な日常の一場面が非日常的風景を作り出し得るという可能性を、フレームの中で実践している。
